[BusMac] need help fast

I'm hoping someone could help with this Bluetooth problem. I have a Mac mini 
and just bought the USB Bluetooth Adapter (true plug and play)...well it 
doesn't work. I plugged it in and nothing, the setup doesn't come up? I got the Mac 
mini from a friend, it has bluetooth. My question is he registered the 
computer as JoeSmith...does that have anything to do with it? I can't seem to figure 
this out?
