Yup - hooked directly to the Cube on an (flaky) Airport connection at my apartment with my girlfriend on a DSL line, and my commuting apartment is on Cable with the powerbook and we use it just about every night instead of the telephone. No appreciable issues setting things up, it really truly worked in fine Apple fashion for me. Plugged them in and it worked! There is a note that the resolution could be finer if you have a faster CPU which would be nice, but it's certainly quite usable on the under 800Mhz machines. What really sold me was the integrated directional mic. Since it's USB audio only on the Cube and I have enough cables already without the Griffin iMic hooked up, it's a MUCH cleaner solution. You just have to get used to the 0.5/1.5 second lag... but that's more than tolerable given that it's effectively free long distance video phoning. I'm not sure about the G3 side of the house - do the Pismos have built-in Firewire? I don't remember. I think that the low end requirement was a machine with integrated Firewire, rather than a card. I've even done overseas iChat AV connections that worked as well!
