[CUBE] Problems with Studio LCD & ball speakers

Apple recommens plugging the cube speakers directly into the Cube's USB
ports becasue the speakers violate the USB spec for power draw. The Cube's
USB ports are guaranteed to supply enough power, other USB ports may not.
If it really is a different monitor, than the variations in USB hardware
could be enough to throw things off.
