www being strange after 10.2.4

Okay here it is g4 cube 450, started stock though with 512 ram. Upgrade Hard
Drive to a 40 Gig, partition in two, one approx 30 the other 10. Install 9.1
on the 10Gig and upgrade to 9.2.2. Reboot, set up and download updates etc
no problems. 

Install 10.2, slow but no problems on the install. Reboot and set up, run
software update, failed. Try again, failed. Open explorer goes to live page
no problem but doesn't complete loading of Apple.com or Apple.com/support.

Reboot with CD and run disk utility, no drive problems, preferences
repaired. Try again, same problem. Able to connect to iMac on the ADSL
router set up. iMac running 10.2.4 has no problems with the net. Move files
over from the iMac, OK. iMac can ping cube, cube doesn't ping iMac.
Remember the iMac's shared drive is mounted on the cubes desktop and I can
retrieve files from it.

Download Safari and 10.2.4 update onto the iMac and then move them onto the
cube. Run the update, no problem. Reboot, OK. Install/launch Safari, doesn't
go anywhere. Explorer again goes the the livepage quickly, MSN okay,
Microsoft okay but when I go to download explorer it won't start the
download. 

Reboot into 9, same problem going to Apple.com but when I choose support
page from the favourite menu in Explorer it goes to the download page
okay... but again won't start the download.

Haven't tried setting up a new user which I will tomorrow... it was time to
stop or the cube would of become a thin line on the floor.... Any ideas or
suggestions appreciated...
