It's not whining, it's objecting to a particular form of marketing via 
extra
baggage. There are plenty of freely available apps from commercial 
venders
who don't package extra junk into their installers beyond a startup 
screen/offer,
etc...  OTOH, unless you own stock in Aladdin Systems then I see no need
to insult fellow list members. If you want to see real whiners, just 
look around
for some anti-.mac forums (or wait for the storm that follows an Apple
announcement on Tuesday about certain iApps no longer being free <g>).

As well, the fact that Expander is free only benefits Aladdin. If it 
weren't
then you'd see a mass migration to another non-proprietary format  in 
the
blink of an eye.  :-)
