Strange HD Problem

This doesn't sound like a power issue if everything else seems to
remain powered. It is likely that your three-ish year old hard drive is
failing - abnormal clicking is pretty simple to diagnose. Back your
data up, then back it up again. Make a backup of the backup. You can
get a large replacement drive on eBay pretty cheap (i got a 120 GB
Maxtor for $120). Be sure you get a 7200 RPM drive - your machine will
be noticeably faster than it is now. Furthermore, the silent beauty of
your cube has likely been overtaken by a semi-annoying whine from the
aging drive. A new hard drive will be whisper quiet.

Now stop reading your email and back your hard drive up.
