trouble with external floppy drive w/ my cube

does anyone have an extrnal floppy drive? Mine a VST is suddenly causing two 
identical floppy icons to show up on my desktop at the same time (supposed to 
be only one) and we are having trouble transferring  files from the floppy to  
any folders on the hard drive. I have a Smartdisk external floppy drive also 
that is doing the same thing on the same cube. Any ideas before I lose my 
mind... what's left of it? grin
