George - I'm getting back to you!
LaCie DVD R/RW external drive has been playing DVDs just fine since
plugged into FW connector after a LaCie 160GB FW HD. No special SW...
just works! Cube/500MHz/30GB HD/1.5GB RAM/internal stock CD/DVD.
