I can give you this real world story:

It's 6am right now, and my 1.2ghz 7457 powerlogix upgraded cube has
been encoding an hour of high res DV to mpeg2 all night. It's 20
minutes away from finishing, and the air from the top is noticeably
hotter (which is probably more the 160gb HD than the 7457 card), but
this is the 3rd time I've done this...let it encode my FCP4 edit
overnight using compressor...with no problems whatsoever. It takes
about 6-7 hours to encode. No crashes, no freezes, no hiccups in the
video.

My Cube is exactly the same as yours except:

1.2ghz 7457
160gb HD (to get the full 128gb)
DVD slotload
1.5gb RAM
LaCie L2 8x DVD-/+RW
Radeon 7500
and tons of firewire devices thru a 6 port firewire hub.

Good luck with your choice. I'm extremely happy with the 7457.
Powerlogix did a great job with these new cards.

It sleeps fine too.
