[CUBE] Slow mail

Another thought: I'm no expert, like many on this list, but I wonder if 
zapping the pram might help with the strange behavior you are having. I 
know it isn't as important as back in the OS 9 days, but it used to 
help solve some odd issues and I don't think it would hurt to try it.
