[Cube] Help - lost the owner user account

Yes, I can - I setup a password for the root user acc't, which works  
now.  I did try to set the password for my regular account - and it  
took it, but no change in sys performance (I'm still not permitted to  
make any changes, and is cases where i'm prompted for a password, it  
doesn't accept the one I just installed).

The "users" panel in System Preferences does show me as an admin
