I don't have the nerve for Cubeowner so I thought someone can give me a summary. :) But anyway it is not that important, I just found out that for some strange reason OWC does not list the 1.5 GHz powerlogix upgrade when you search by the machine model, but it does show it when you manually browse the CPU category. Message-ID: Hmm... Mactracker says Apple Cinema HD Display 23 - Power: 70 watts and Apple Cinema Display 22 - Power: 50 watts. A side note from lowendmac.com: The Cube Speakers require special 10-watt USB ports to work at full volume. The G4 Cube has these ports, as do all Apple ADC monitors. These special USB ports are sometimes called 20-watt ports by Apple, because the two ports share a single 20-watt supply of power, however, the Cube Speakers only use 10 watts. The Cube Speakers will work on any Mac with USB and Mac OS 9.0.4 or newer, but the volume will be much lower. This is because regular USB ports only supply 2.5 watts. You can use the Cube Speakers at full volume with a G4 tower if it has an ADC monitor and they're plugged into an ADC monitor's USB ports. However, they'll only work at a reduced volume if plugged into the G4's own ports or a USB hub. Have you trid resetting P-RAM/NVRAM? Just a thought... Not really. Both can be headless, so long as you have some other means of accessing the non-Cube. ssh or vnc would work just fine. Message-ID: <8909a23f59e8f80fdc45048fcb5e4495@comcast.net> Hello all I've finally got the Dell 2005 FPW LCD display that I've wanted for a while and I've got it hooked up to my 450 MHz Cube (OS 3.9 radeon 7500 32MB video card). I'm trying to decide what video settings work best and was wondering if anyone else using this display might have some suggestions for settings. I've also got the choice of connecting through DVI (with an ADC to DVI adapter) or through VGA. Both seem to work about the same, is there a compelling reason to use one over the other? The Dell display has it's own power connection so it's not drawing power from the cube. Thanks Andrew in Ann Arbor technology is the answer, what was the question? You should use it on its native resolution, whichever it is, otherwise the picture will look "blurry". > I've also got the choice of connecting through DVI (with an ADC to > DVI adapter) or through VGA. > Both seem to work about the same, is there a compelling reason to > use one over the other? > The Dell display has it's own power connection so it's not drawing > power from the cube. You should connect it to DVI with ADC to DVI adapter. That way you are sending it digital signal which is not prone to noise and distortion lika analog VGA signal is. Besides, VGA signal gets converted to analog in graphic card and then converted back to digital in monitor so it makes sense to skip these two unnecessary steps... In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <49D32E5E-A275-4CEB-9501-88DCCEDD18A3@ml1.net> Hello all, As some of you may know, a while ago I bought a DVI to ADC adapter on ebay. However the USPS managed to screw it up and they delivered it to god knows whom, but it certainly wasn't me. Of course it wasn't insured. Anyway, I have to buy another one, but while looking for another one I spotted that there are two Apple part numbers for DVI to ADC adapters. One is M8661LL/B, and the other is A1006. On the photos they look the same and I haven't noticed any differences between them. Can someone shed some light on this? I also thought about getting a DrBoot DVIator, as they sell for roughly the same price on ebay, but if I get DVIator I will get another Cube power supply that I'd be able to use in case the original dies on me.... it is the same power supply, correct? Can anyone confirm that DVIator will drive a 23" cinema display (translucent one)? Thanks!
