Thanks to Stefan who sent me a VRM board for my cube, put the problem was not the VRM board. As i said, the 5V output from the 1st pin on the J2 connector on the VRM board was Ko. But when i unplugged the cable under this connectors (which is powering the hard Drive and the Combo drive), the 5V output was OK. So i follow the black power cable, and realized that it was crushed under one of torx screw of the combo drive, and then was touching the metalic part of the cube ... It's no ok and my beloved cube is ready for one more year. Is there anybody here interested by a VRM board ? It's an apple part. The old 8500 > are hooked > up to apple laser with a 20 pin connection, i believe. Kub I also have OS 9 on my cube along with Panther. It works fine although I never use it. OSX will want more RAM than OS9, I'd consider 512 as a minumum. My cube is currently connected to a Dell 20" LCD display (Dell2005FPW). All I needed was the VGA right angle adaptor that shipped with the cube. It doesn't get you the USB ports and power switch that the stock ADC (?) monitor offers but as far as display function goes it's wonderful. For a printer I'm using a Brother MFC420N which can connect through USB or through ethernet. I'm not sure the 420 is heavy duty enough for real office use but I would suggest you look at some variety of network printer. ( only the 480 works) What part does the bus speed and processor speed play in this test.? The mac book with the GMA 950 does a great job using 64 meg of base memory. The mac book pro with the 256 video does them all with ease. Thanks Gary H On Jan 7, 2008, at 9:40 PM, Bill Fox wrote: > Cyril, I agree with Gary. In a hot climate, you may need a fan or a better heat exchanger but I've had the card for years without problems, although I did already have a fan fitted in the base bracket for CPU cooling but this does not give much extra flow over the video card. Cubeowner.com has lots of information on this topic. Stefan I'll help you if other sources won't help you. Message-ID: <753795.72835.qm@web30814.mail.mud.yahoo.com> I have a 450MHz cube with CD and 1GB of ram. Prior to Friday running 10.3.9. Friday loaded tiger when things went south. After loading, hit restart. would begin boot up. Gets to grey screen with apple. after a few minutes, apple disappears and is replaced by circle with slash through it. I pulled HD and brought it to friend. He reloaded Tiger and all updates to 10.4.11 after wiping particion. Got his imac lampshade to boot fine. Installed HD back in my cube, booted to 10.4. Got to log in screen. entered password. processed for a few moment then "can not log into "xxxxxxxxx" account at this time. hit OK button and message box disappears and login window shakes like password is incorrect. Next i updated Rage 128 firmware to 136 and Cube to 4.1.9. Now it only boots into 10.4. Does not respond to holding down option key at boot up to specify boot disk. Does not respond to zaping pram command at boot up. HELP, Please HELP ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals? I think, you updated firmware too late. It should have been done befor installing a newer system... You could press the cuda-chip on the mainbord yet. --- That's not without any risk! --- The cube will forget every (possibly wrong) parameter. Do you need an instruction?
