All true, and all good software suggestions. But I want to mention that no application will extract audio from a Sony PRD-650, because the hardware of that drive (which is a portable) doesn't support digital audio extraction. These days all CD-ROM drives support DAE it but that was not necessarily the case several years ago. It can't be done. Believe me. I have one. With another drive, iTunes would probably work fine.
