A similar problem occurred initially when I tried to hook up an external NEC CD-drive to my 2300c docked in the Ultradock 16sce. However, installing the NEC 5.31a/Drive CD solved the problem; of course, I also have the Ultradock driver installed and active. Good luck, Peter
