Actually, some things I've read say that the Finder is noticeably faster in
9.2.x (perhaps an optimized microkernel?).  But that may only apply to
machines that are explicitly supported.  9.2.x, though, is not just for
Classic.  My recollection is that even those who only use OS 9 (on supported
machines) are recommended to update.
