Does anyone use the following configuration?

A newton (2100 or other) and a duodock?

Yes. Including both of the 2x00 series and the 1xx series MessagePads.

If so, how is it connected?

The hardware is a standard Mac Din8 (an 8 pin connector on both ends) cable
connecting to the back of the duodock in the printer/modem port and the
other end via the Newton Interconnect port adapter which then plugs into
top of the MessagePad 2x00.

The software typically used on the Duo is called the Newton Connection
Utility v1.0 and is available for downloading at no charge on
http://www.unna.org/view.php?/apple/connection_utils/ForMac/NewtonConnectionUtilities

On the MessagePad 2x00, the app is in ROM and is found in the Extras
drawer. It is called Dock.

Could you please list hardware and software?

The Duo hardware is a standard Mac printer Din8 cable. The Duo software is
called Newton Connection Utility or NCU

The MessagePad 2x00 hardware is the Newton Interconnect adapter. The
MessagePad 2x00 software is a built-in package and is referred to as Dock.
