power manager problem (again)

Hi,
I have a little problem with my powerbook duo 280c/2300c.
The duo do not recarge the battery over 13.73V. The duo uses the
battery, but when it have to recharge it, it fails. I need to use
another duo, a 270c to charge the battery at all.
The battery recondition utility do not work (screen white with
battery icon jumping for 9 hours...) and it is not a battery problem,
cause my 2 battery works fine with the duo 270c (and the battery
recondition utility works fine with the duo 270c).
If I charge the battery with the duo 270c, the battery works fine
with the 280c/2300c, but when the battery is "empty" the duo
280c/2300c charge it only a little.
I try to reset the power manager in soft way, and hard way, toggling
the battery, ps and internal battery. Nothing changes.
I have to add: 1) usually after a power manager reset the duo start
with the brightness very 'white', out of scale. I need to reboot to
have a normal contrast. 2) usually, if I put the brighness to the
max, the screen 'flips' a little when the duo access the hard disk.
There is something I could still try?
I think the internal battery is dead: this could be a related problem?
Thank you!
f.
