Yes, I have tried an adb keyboard, and it has worked just fine with 
the dvorak layout.

I think I know the Apple IIGS keyboard that you mean, but it has a 
number pad, doesn't it?  (The HH keyboard has no number pad so is 
only about an inch longer than the 2400.).  But I do remember the 
Apple one being very compact, hardly taking up any space beyond what 
the keys themselves take up -- so I'll consider that.  Thanks.
