In a short answer: no.  None of the round Apple speakers work with 
anything other than flat panel iMacs, and digital audio Power Macs 
(Quicksilver 733 MHz +).  The earlier Apple Digital Speakers only work 
with the Cube.  Either way, there is currently no way to hook them up 
to portables.
