this could cause it, as everytime mail connects, it needs to check 
every message to see if it's status has changed... i would think that 
keeping massive amounts of email in your inbox isnt appreciated by your 
ISP either.

that being said, i normally have btwn 5 and 20 messages in my inbox, 
and i have never experienced any problems with mail slowing/stalling 
the system. (QS 867 10.3.2)
