The 106 and the AO6U are different. You'll have to check the pioneer
web site for specs, but I think the 106 is listed under the 'older
models' section.
Yesterday, I installed the AO6 into my G4 (450 MHz, purchased fall
1999, AGP). The compusa price was $170.00 with a $30 manufacturer
rebate available. I believe the unit needs to be purchased by the end
of the month for the rebate. It came with PC software (of course) and
two blank disks, a 4x DVD-R and a 2X DVD-RW.
So far it's been great. I haven't burned any movies yet, but it's
played CD's, DVD's, and booted from my Norton Systemworks 2.0 disk, OS
9.2.2. My only installation problem was that after removing the face
plate and disconnecting the cables to the old drive, I couldn't get the
old drive to come out the front of the machine. Only after installing
the AO6 did the drive bay want to come loose. This is the entire front
bay, including the slot for the optional zip drive.
