Hello all,

Just subscribed to this list hoping for help on a rather *esoteric* problem

I had an SBC-Pacific Bell DSL acct. at home for years on MAC G4 using system 9.1, worked great, no problems, just loved it.

I recently moved and got a new phone number and "upgraded" (insert bitter chuckle here) to SBC Yahoo! and have had nothing but problems ever since. Can't connect, when I do connect it is slower then molasses in January and kicks me off every 90 seconds, etc.

Anyway, I'm not sure what the problem is exactly, but one thing I have noticed is that my TCP/IP control panel keeps resetting the "connect via" setting from "Enternet Classic" to "PPP," even when I go into administrative mode and lock it.

I have tried everything, I have deleted the preference files for remote access and TCP/IP, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Enternet software half a dozen times, power-cycled the modem, rebooted my computer, moved the modem a way from all other electronic equipemnt, etc. But for some reason the control panel keeps resetting to "Connect via PPP"

SBC Yahoo! says this is a problem I should call Apple to solve. SO I called Apple and they told me to call SBC Yahoo! Argh! Anyone else out there into a similar problem? How did you solve it?

thanks,

Alex
