Yes it can and has been done, I put a CD-RW as well as the DVD drive in
my 400 (i now have a DVD-RW instead of the original DVD ROM.
The joy of being a mechanical engneer from England is that you are
allowed to use the word bastard (as long as it is associated with the
word file) in a sentence :-)
You will need some tin snips and a bloody great bastard file, the
advantage of having worked with Brummies (people from Birmingham) you
are allowed to use the word bloody (and others) ad lib ;-)
actually DO NOT USE A BLOODY GREAT BASTARD FILE as it will leave metal
filings inside your computer (VERY BAD). just use tin snips and heaps
of courage.
alternatively just stick the DVR-105 in place of the OE unit and have
done with it (it burns everything you need to, faster than your current
drive and has buffer under run protection
if you wish to see my G4 dual optical....

I used the original cover, a ZIP bezel and the original blanking plate,
and some doublesided tape to make it look reasonable. A pain, but worth
it?

Good luck
