It sounds as though you corrupted your system software when the re-installation attempt went hay-wire. Instead of trying to perform a system software installation right away, you need to use the drive set-up function of the utilities folder to reformat your hard drive first. After doing the reformatting, you should be able to "see" your hard drive and designate it as the destination of a system software installation. Then, it's just a matter of making the right choices during the installation process. Good luck.
