[G4] DVD-RAM in a firewire case?

Yes as it happens, I just did it. But like you I had a combo case would 
not work. But I had an older case for a CD-RW(16x10x40 Firewire CDRW)  
which did. Both case came from FireWire Direct.  I moved the DVD-Ram to 
the older case, moved the CR-RW to the new case and life works at least 
in OS 10.2.3. I've not tried it in OS 9.2.2.

The OXford Bridge may no work with the DVD-Ram... You might need to 
request an older case
