You will need Toast for the DVD piece actually that also opens up your 
options as to what kind of dvd-rw you can get too since Toast supports 
more writers and using iDVD is a non-issue (it just wont work with 
externals anyway.) Although burn-to-disc is a pretty nice feature for 
cd-rws so that might be a selling point.

Im not sure if you can get away with an IDE card in that and have it work 
or not internally. I havent read anywhere where someone actually tried it. 
But that is probably a non-issue to you too. 

I will note I havent tried it my 8600 is a dedicated OS 9 machines for a 
few pieces of hardware or else I would do that for you but I dont see any 
issues that you would have with it.
