I wouldn't bother with the SCSI. Save the money for a new scanner. If 
you
need to add a SCSI card later it won't cost a lot. Other World 
Computing has them for $75.
You can likely find older versions for less.

If Apple adds the processor it does not effect your warranty. Their 
talking about if
you do case mods and unsupported hardware upgrades. You won't have any 
problems with your warranty
from Apple.
