[G4] 970's anyone....?

I would love to be wrong, but Apple hasn't had the greatest record lately in
shipping shortly after announcing a new computer. The past is prologue, and
all that.

September isn't "real soon" for my clients who need Final Cut Pro systems
NOW. They won't be waiting for the G-Whiz 970 to place their orders. That's
my frame of reference.

I don't know what you mean by the term "real soon". But if you think 
that September is not real soon then I don't agree. From my point of 
view, September is very real soon.

And I believe it may be much sooner than that. IBM is way ahead of 
schedule in shipping 970's in production quantities to Taiwan. Way 
ahead. If you trust rumor sites (I do), shipping 970's to plants has 
already happened. And Apple was given fair warning enough to be ready 
to put them into new models ahead of schedule as well.
