it will probably be a revision or two of the 970 before they have a chip suitable for a laptop. this way they make sure they can run it cool enough, and more importantly, keep the power consumption as low as possible. keep the dual 1.4 gHz for now ;) in my mind it is a better case setup (though the new MB and processor are much much quicker) you have the ability to add more that 2 optical drives, more than 2 harddrives. not to mention the fact that you have a tried and true system (who knows what errata the new G5s might hold in store) anyway, back to the point, i believe it will be january at the earliest before we see a 970 in a powerbook. that being said, moto just announced a new revision of the G4, so we could probably have 1.4 gHz G4s in the not too distant future. (not to mention a plethora of upgrade options for the "old" G4s) sandor On Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at 08:28 AM, Peter Payne wrote: > Is there any good news for Powerbooks in the wings now that Apple is > using the 970 in their new Macs (of course they would release new > towers, when I just bought a 1.42 ghz G4 three weeks ago).
