Maxtor is not recommended because it has issue with going to sleep or waking up from sleep. Use Western Digital or Seagate. My IBM hard drive died also after water get inside my Mac from a basement flood. Western Digital and Maxtor survive the water soaking Mac. I have Seagate at work. So far so good. Rav
