Jaguar Install/Update Difficulties

G4/400, 1 Gb RAM, FCP2, 1 system drive, 3 A/V hard drives, Poineer A05 DVD burner:

Did a clean install (nothing else on the hard drive partition) of a full copy (not an
update) of OS 10.1. Updated to Jaguar (OS 10.2.) There is NO OS 9 on that partition.

>From Apple's site I downloaded (5 1/2 hours on a 26.4 analog modem) the 60 MB OS 10.2.3
combo update. It went into a partition other than the one on which Jaguar was. Moved the
update to the Jaguar partition. Stuffit said I needed an updated version of Expander.
Downloaded the Expander update.

Double clicked "MACOSXUpdateCombo10.2.3.dmg.bin" hoping to install the update. Because of
some glitches, i did it a few times more. I now have on the Jaguar partition
"MACOSXCombo10.2.3.dmg" and "MACOSXCombo1.2.3.dmg1 through 8. So, through my stupidity,
that file is there 9 times.

Profiler says I still have OS10.2 on the machine, not 10.2.3.

I did the update so I could use IDVD with the Pioneer A05 burner I installed replacing
Apple's OEM DVD/CD reader. I tried to update to 10.2.3 because Apple's site said 10.2.3
was the first to recognize the Pioneer burner. And because of the adverse postings about
10.2.4 I'll not go there until all the fixes are in.

Waiting in the wings to be installed is ILife. I thought 10.2.3 needed to be put on first
since it is supposed to recognize the Pioneer burner, then, following that, ILife (on
DVD) could go on.

So, after this loooong story, is there a reasonable fix for my dilemma. please?

Thanks.

PS: It's 70 degrees in Southwestern PA. Even though piles of snow are still in evidence,
our doors & windows are open for the first time since 2002!!!
