Here is a link that will at least answer part of your question. This guy slapped a gigabit board in a yikes chassis. http://homepage.mac.com/josephk/G4_mod.html I've done a similar mod just recently. I picked up a 800 mhz daughtercard form a Quicksilver 2002 and installed it in my Sawtooth. After a firmware upgrade, PLL tweaking, and a little hacksawing on the heatsink it works great. I know the form factor has changed totally with the introduction of the new Mirrored Drive Doors (Wind Tunnel, Cheese Grater, DDR, whatever you want to call it) model but the previous ones - are they so different that you couldn't, say, mount a Gigabyte Ethernet motherboard in a Yikes case? Or a Quicksilver case for that matter? I know the power supply for the Yikes is a 20-pin like the B&W G3, and the MDD newbie is a 24-pin in a peculiar shape, but assuming you could change the PSU in whatever case to a 22-pin appropriate for the Gigabyte Ethernet board - is this all feasible? Anyone here had a chance to compare machines on this level? Cheers, Kay. -- ---------- G4ist, a listserv for discussion of everything G4. FAQ at <http://www.themacintoshguy.com/lists/G4.html>.
