[G4] Internal Hard Drive over 120 GB?

I have not tried it myself but, many people with ata 66 IDE controllers have used hard drives larger than 120GB. Because the ATA 66 controller can not address more than 128GB, the drive will only appear to be 128GB. The extra storage (128GB+ to 180GB) would be unused.

If you then added a ATA 100 or 120 controller card, or upgraded to a computer with ATA 100 or 120 controller the entire 180GB would be available to use.

Subject: [G4] Internal Hard Drive over 120 GB?

All,

I have a G4 PowerMac DP 533 and have been told by the Apple Genius at
our local store and Apple Care as well that I can only use a 120 GB hard
drive max for an internal drive. As I can get a 180 GB drive for the same
price I'd rather use that one. Has anyone been able to use an internal HD
bigger then 120 GB by using a PCI IDE controller? I was told by someone
else that by using that it would allow me to install and use the bigger
drive.
