No, didn't know it was a requirement.

No, again, wasn't aware that should be done.

I don't want to erase the secondary drive.  I keep a lot of files 
there.  All I want to do is create a backup drive image, not clone from 
one drive to another.

Used 2.2 and 2.3, same results.

Wonder how that can be on two different computers with one just having 
had the 10.2.8 run on it?
