I just looked on MacUpdate.com and there are some apps like FreeSpaceX
and WhatSize and Where's The Waste. I see m to recal a tool by
OmniGroup.com that did a good job too.

As memory serves, WhatSize was an app I used within a month to check
on some stuff. The thing I would look for is and app that looks at the
invisible/hidden files as well as your typical stuff.

As with any app like this, resist the urge to "seek n' destroy" files
without full knowledge of what they do.
