regarding IDE enclosure

I went out and made a purchase of a IOGEAR enclosure. One USB 2 and one
FW 400 port. It was DOA and when I returned it to the retailer, it
would not work for them as well.

I then bought a ADS technologies enclosure. Not as easy to get into as
the IOGEAR, but it has 2 FW ports as well as the USB 2 port. It has an
activity light on the front, and the rocker switch on the back for the
power is lit. I find that having a power on light on the front would
have been a better design option. But having a 2nd FW port is a great
idea as I can plug my iBook into the box and restart in target disk
mode and do backups and file transfers quickly and easily.

The ADS was more expensive than the IOGEAR, but the IOGEAR simply did
not work.

Over all, I have no major complaints about the ADS.
