[G4] Hard Drive issues

try process of elimination-unplug the new drive (just ide data cable) 
and reboot, see if the events occur, if they do, the problem isnt 
related to the new drive.

also, try rebooting holding down the shift? key to stop extensions from 
loading, there may be a conflict... (cant remember the os 9 key 
commands anymore....!!)
