Larry,

How about seeing if your motherboard battery is dead? It might simply
need to be replaced. Go to the Apple Knowledge Base for info about
installing a new battery. You need to push a button on the motherboard
once you have replaced the battery. It is usually a small button and
so you need to see where it is on your motherboard. You therefore need
 the motherboard specs for your machine. It is a simple thing to do.
