[G4] Disk Utility does not see CD burner

Hello list,

Problem:

Disk Utility does not see my CD Burner. "No devices are available for
burning."

Information:

10.3.7
G4 Sawtooth AGP model. Originally a 466 but upgraded to Gigabit Dual 1.33
896MB Ram
LG CD-RW/DVD-RW, which I notice in System Profile that disc burning is 'not
supported.' 

Can anyone help/offer suggestions?
