[G4] Disk Utility does not see CD burner

Michael,

Did you upgrade from a non-burning CD?  If you did, you might have to 
create a new system -- i.e. re-load the OS. Sometimes the installer 
will not load burner drivers if there isn't one present. Likewise with 
a DVD drive. You might try reloading the OS.
