In general each release has gotten faster (sometimes significantly so  
for specific features), though you're unlikely to notice the  
difference during day to day use. Here's a site that specifically

I was able to find several articles related to this question with a  
simple search for "tiger vs panther".

I run 10.4.x server on a G4 at 400 AGP for my home network. Make sure  
you have at least 512 MBs of memory and you'll be happy.
