Richard - unless you actually enjoy endless troubleshooting, wouldn't 
it be an idea to stump up a few dollars for Apple's iLife '06 and use 
the latest iPhoto version? Lots of other goodies too.

My version works faultlessly using a G4 Sawtooth and Panther.
