[G4] Problem with new Pioneer DVR-111D

I installed the DVR-111D on my 733 MHz Quicksilver Mac running OS X v. 
10.3.9 with no problem. It has no problem reading CD's which I burnt  
using the cd burner which came with the computer. what id does not do 
is recognize blank cd's so I now can not burn cd's. I get the error 
message as follows -

"The disc could not be used because the disc drive is not supported. 
(Error code 0x80020025)"
