What you should have done in the first place was install your hard  
drive in your brother's QS as a "Slave" drive and used his machine to  
do the OS-10.5 installation.
That is the method I used to install Leopard on a 733MHz G4 and it has  
worked perfectly from the first day. Other people have done this to  
install OS-10.5 on 500MHz Cubes, so it will work as long as you go  
about it the right way.
The OS-10.5 DVD does a processor speed check before it allows or  
denies the installation. It doesn't care whether the drive is a Master  
or Slave and will do the installation as long as the other  
requirements (drive space available, RAM, DVD drive, etc) have been met.
