[G4] G4 Xserve newbie!

Also if your 1GHz Single G4 basic machine is based on either the MDD or  
Quicksilver platform, they are famous for noise fans.
If I'm correct Apple even offered an up-grade that replaced the noise  
fan with one that is quite.
I doubt that the up-grade is still available, however you should be  
able to obtain the parts that were part of the up-grade package.
