[G4] G4 will not boot up after addung a 128 HD

My G4 will not boot up after adding a 128 HD - unless I push the reset 
button beside the battery prior to turning the computer on

I checked the battery voltage  and it appears ok - if  I push the reset and 
then start - everything is fine

2nd HD displays on desktop and you can use it - computer runs ok



I Did a POWER ON  Self test - Result:  failed

failure type:  Memory

Memory slot  :  Dimm  3/J24



What does this mean  ?????

would greatly appreciate any HELP

It is very inconvenient before starting computer to open the case and push 
reset button
