IIRC, both machines are G4 models, so the take-apart is the same for
both.

1. Disconnect the power cord.
2. Open the case.
3. Touch the casing of the power supply to ground yourself.
4. Look inside the edge of the case nearest the CD reader for a pair
of plastic tabs that come from the front panel.
5. Gently press the tabs toward the CD reader and then toward the
front of the computer.
6. Remove the front panel.
7. Remove the two screws that hold the sub-chassis in place.
8. Pull the sub-chassis forward about two inches and disconnect the
IDE ribbon and sound cable if necessary.
9. Completely remove the sub-chassis from the computer.
10. Remove the four screws holding the CD reader to the sub-chassis.
11. Swap the CD readers from the machines.
12. Reverse the above procedure to reinstall the swapped readers.
13. Start the computer and insert the installation discs.

This should get you back in the running IF your problem was simply
not having the right type of reader in the machine you wanted to do
the OS installation on.

If this doesn't fix your problem, you have a more complicated problem
than I can easily describe a solution for.
