Oh dear - as they say - a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!

Pure water is an insulator, although quite how pure is the water in your
pipes is another matter!

In these days of almost universal 'double-insulated' electronic packages,
knowing just what is a ground is far from a simple matter!

Grounding can also be accomplished by contacting metal plumbing, but not PVC
pipes. I suppose the water itself is grounded, so contacting a metal faucet
would ground whether the pipes are metal or PVC.
