[G4] G4 Turned Off

Hi,

Powered up my G4 the other day. While getting ready to sit down in front of
it, it turned off, i.e., screen went black, now "whirring" sound from hard
drive.  Checked all the connections including electrical plug and interior
power supply connections before restarting, but no go.  Power still runs through power box 'cause amber light on monitor is on.  Anyone have this
happen to them or ideas or suggestions?
